Announcements 12/22 -- The Lorain County Safe Community Coalition's Fatality Review Committee meets throughout the year to review fatal crashes in an effort to see whether or not engineering, education or enforcement could be changed to prevent future fatal crashes in Lorain County. full story 12/2 -- On December 1, 2011, hundreds of Lorain County residents gathered in Lorain County Community College’s College Center to sample 19 non-alcoholic drinks at the 10th Annual Zero-Proof Mix-Off. This event kicks off the holiday season by encouraging Lorain County residents to keep the holiday season as a time to celebrate with family and friends, not a time to let alcohol or the effects of driving impaired ruin fun - or worse, a life. full story 8/30 -- On August 19th, law enforcement agencies, stakeholders, and other partners across the Nation launched the 2011 National Impaired Driving Crackdown. This effort will include intensified, highly visible enforcement activities through September 5th. “Driving while drunk isn’t worth the risk. If you’ve had too much to drink you’d better find a safe and sober ride home or your chances of arrest are high,” states Lieutenant Hughes of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Elyria Post. Impaired driving is a serious issue across the State of Ohio, and Lorain County is no exception. full story 12/7 -- Safe Kids USA is part of Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children 14 and under.
