Lorain County Teens Campaign to Save Lives

5/15 -- Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the U.S.  According to research from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), 56% of teens ages 16 to 20 years old killed in motor vehicle traffic accidents were not buckled up. In response, seven Lorain County high schools have campaigned to change habits and save lives.


2013 Safe Community Coalition Outstanding Contribution Award

5/9 -- On May 5, 2013 the Lorain County Safe Community Coalition recognized two local law enforcement personnel for their commitment to traffic safety promotion and prevention. The 2013 Safe Community Recognition Award recipients included Lt. Glenn Peterson from Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Deputy Tony Pluta from Lorain County Sheriff's Office and the Lorain County JVS.

5/9 -- Parents Who Host, Lose The Most: Don't be a party to teenage drinking... it's the law!


SOLACE Lorain County

4/30 -- SOLACE Lorain County is a newly formed chapter of a statewide group seeking to end the crisis of substance abuse, specifically prescription drug and opiate addiction in local communities. 


Drop Off Prescription Drugs at Convenient, Countywide Locations

4/29 -- With prescription drug abuse being as close as your own medicine cabinet, it's important to dispose of medications properly. At various Lorain County locations, perscription or over-the counter medicaitons can be dropped off at any time of the day/night with no quesitons asked.


Ohio's New Texting Ban Takes Full Effect

3/8 -- Ohio’s new texting while driving ban has fully kicked into effect, ending a six month warning period. Those caught texting while driving can be cited.
